A CEREMONY TO HONOR THE GUINNESS READERS WAS HELD IN OCTOBER 2004.

A NEW PERMANENT LIBRARY DISPLAY OF THE EVENT WAS UNVEILED. SEE IT ON THE 2ND FLOOR IN THE GALLERY AREA.

The San Jose State University/City of San Jose Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Library "DREAM TEAM" holds the Guinness World's Record for Non-Stop Reading Aloud.

We set the record of 74 hours, 49 minutes and 37 seconds on Saturday August 16, 2003 at 12:50 pm.

A New Guinness World's Record for "Non-Stop Reading Aloud" was set
in San Jose, California on Saturday August 16th, 2003 at 12:50 pm PDT

On Friday, August 15th at 11:20 pm PDT the existing record was broken. This happened during
the gala open party for the new Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library at San Jose State University.
